Prime Minister of Somalia Meets Ambassador of Qatar

HE Prime Minister of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Somalia Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al Nuaimi.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries.

 HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the 159th regular session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was held in Riyadh.

The meeting discussed a number of reports to follow up on the implementation of the decisions of the 44th session of the GCC Supreme Council in Doha in December 2023, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.

Addressing the opening of the meeting, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the war on Gaza has gone unabated for the past five months, resulting in the death and injury of tens of thousands of Palestinians.

The international community has been unable to stop Israel’s relentless crimes and daily violation of international law, His Excellency added.

Reiterating the State of Qatar’s position on the Palestinian issue, His Excellency said Doha will continue mediation efforts to stop the escalation, exchange prisoners between the two sides, and reach a permanent truce in the Gaza Strip.

The GCC countries spared no effort in supporting Qatar’s endeavors and standing with the brotherly Palestinian people during this tragedy, His Excellency added, stressing the necessity to continue pushing for just and lasting peace, with the Palestinian people obtaining all their legitimate rights approved by international bodies and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Arab Republic of Egypt, which was held in Riyadh.
The meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation between the GCC and the Arab Republic of Egypt in all fields and the joint action plan.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed, in a speech, that the shared keenness to cooperate and continue discussions in several fields is nothing but a desire to enhance and advance relations between the GCC countries and Egypt to further growth and prosperity.
His Excellency explained that the State of Qatar has made substantial efforts to mediate between Israel and Hamas to stop the war on Gaza, in partnership with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and the friendly United States of America, noting that the State of Qatar will continue its efforts with all active countries to reach a permanent ceasefire.

5th Session of Joint Supreme Committee Between Qatar, Egypt Convenes

The 5th session of the joint supreme committee between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt convened in Doha on Saturday.
HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired Qatar’s side, while HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry chaired Egypt’s side.
The session discussed cooperation relations between the two fraternal countries and ways to support and develop them, especially in fields of trade, investment, diplomacy, social affairs, education, and youth.
In this regard, the two sides emphasized their keenness to advance bilateral relations in various fields in a way that enhances joint Arab action.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, the ongoing efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, protecting the besieged civilians in the Strip, and the continuation of bringing humanitarian aid into the Strip without obstacles.
The session also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the diplomatic field between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for Diplomatic Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, an executive program for the MoU in the fields of social affairs between the Ministry of Social Development and Family and the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the Arab Republic of Egypt for the years (2024 – 2025 – 2026), the fourth executive program in the field of general education for the cooperation agreement in the fields of education and research between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt for the academic years (2024/2025 – 2025/2026 – 2026/2027), an MoU between the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Justice and the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the executive program for the years 2024 and 2025 within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt in the field of youth and sports, signed on April 16, 1992, and an MoU between the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the field of enhancing bilateral investment relations.

Qatar Calls Sudanese Waring Parties to Resume Negotiations

The State of Qatar called on the warring parties in Sudan to resume negotiations with the aim of reaching an agreement that ends the fighting and spares civilians further suffering, stressing the need for cooperation to facilitate the access of humanitarian aid to those affected, and to adhere to the principles and rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
This came in the statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, during the Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the High Commissioner’s Report on Sudan, within the framework of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Her Excellency reaffirmed that the State of Qatar stands by the Sudanese people in the hard times they are going through, and that it continues to provide all forms of support and humanitarian aid to alleviate the burden of the current crisis on them, calling on the international community to redouble its efforts and provide more support to meet the rising needs of the Sudanese.
She reiterated the State of Qatar’s firm position towards the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, and its rejection of any form of interference in its internal affairs, noting the need to promote and protect the human rights of the Sudanese people, guarantee their right to live in dignity, and achieve their legitimate aspirations for peace, security and stability.
HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva expressed the State of Qatar’s regret over the human rights situation in Sudan as a result of the fighting that has been ongoing for more than ten months, pointing out that while expressing concern about violations and crimes committed against civilians in the capital, Khartoum, in the states of Darfur, and in other regions of Sudan, Doha stresses the importance of immediately stopping these crimes and violations.

Qatar Participates in 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum

The State of Qatar participated in the 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which kicked off on Friday and is set to run through March 3 under the theme “Advancing Diplomacy in Times of Turmoil”.
HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater is representing the State of Qatar at the forum.
The forum brings together more than 20 heads of state and government, in addition to 90 ministers. The forum’s sessions are expected to discuss a number of global issues of concern to the Middle East, the Pacific region, Africa, and Latin America, most notably the Gaza war, climate change, the food crisis, and space diplomacy.

The call dealt with discussing the close strategic relations between the two countries, the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, especially the efforts of the two countries to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Strip and accelerate the pace of bringing humanitarian aid into Gaza without obstacles, in addition to protecting civilians in accordance with humanitarian international law.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Receives Copy of Credentials of South Sudan Ambassador

Minister of State for International Cooperation Meets Netherlands Foreign Minister

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Hanke Bruins, on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council, in session at the UN headquarters in Geneva.

The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the humanitarian field and the evacuation of injured Palestinians from Gaza Strip, and obstacles to the entry of relief aid into Gaza Strip.

The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Afghanistan and Sudan. The two sides voiced concern over women’s conditions in conflict zones as one of the most vulnerable groups in such circumstances.

In this context, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation stressed Qatar’s keenness on launching programs and initiatives supportive to women in conflict zones, especially in the fields of health, education, training and capacity building.

On Qatar’s active role in mediation and peaceful conflict resolution, the two sides touched on Qatar’s role in facilitating the process of reuniting Ukrainian children with their families separated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands expressed thanks to the State of Qatar for its efforts in the evacuation operations from Afghanistan, in addition to its effective role in Gaza, especially its mediation role and the relief and humanitarian support.
