HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Hanke Bruins, on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council, in session at the UN headquarters in Geneva.
The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the humanitarian field and the evacuation of injured Palestinians from Gaza Strip, and obstacles to the entry of relief aid into Gaza Strip.
The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Afghanistan and Sudan. The two sides voiced concern over women’s conditions in conflict zones as one of the most vulnerable groups in such circumstances.
In this context, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation stressed Qatar’s keenness on launching programs and initiatives supportive to women in conflict zones, especially in the fields of health, education, training and capacity building.
On Qatar’s active role in mediation and peaceful conflict resolution, the two sides touched on Qatar’s role in facilitating the process of reuniting Ukrainian children with their families separated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands expressed thanks to the State of Qatar for its efforts in the evacuation operations from Afghanistan, in addition to its effective role in Gaza, especially its mediation role and the relief and humanitarian support.
